General Fitness Exercises When Busy

In today’s world of working, family and social engagements, it is all too easy to forget or knowingly neglect our fitness. This creates a dangerous precedent. The quicker and longer that we adopt this strategy, the easier it is to continue doing it and the harder it is to start again. Also, we’re putting our health on the back burner. We’re better than that.

There are a wealth of general fitness related exercises we can do with very little investment of time or money. If we’re confined to the office, simple steps such as taking the stairs instead of the elevator is going to fire your step count up. If you work on the ground floor, take the stairs at lunchtime; a few goes up and down will make for decent cardio in a short period of time.

Finding a space to run and burn off some excess energy is a great way to either start the day or end it, or even fill a lunch break. This is all about making use of the pockets of time we have and turning them into effective cardio. Even volunteering to take a walk from one office across town to another is going to rack up a few thousand steps, meaning you exercised for free on the clock. That’s a sweet gig!

Making use of cheap or free apps, YouTube videos and downloadable lessons is also great if time and budget are both tight. Right away we turn the home into a de facto gym where we can rack up as few minutes or as many hours of exercise as we want or have time for. Just be sure to build up and graduate the exercises so that we do not stagnate and continue to give ourselves a workout. Time will be tight, so intensity rather than duration should be increased. In a few weeks time, 15 minutes of blasting our hardcore cardio will still leave you feeling exhilarated if you’ve done it right.

Time may not always be on our side, but this presents opportunities for us to create new and intense workouts.
