Stay in Shape on your Holidays

During your holidays we should be relaxing but at the same time it’s also a time when we typically eat and drink more and where our calorie intake increase and exercise regimes fall short. However, we don’t want to be bogging down our holiday with worries of getting some sort of equilibrium in place where we need to burn our calories day by day. That’s not enjoying and relaxing. There are some simple things we can do to bolt one or two activities onto the side of our holiday routine without it affecting our enjoyment.

Look at your surroundings on holiday and see the opportunities that are present. If the hotel room is on the 15th floor, try taking the stairs up and down each time. It will only add a few minutes of your time, but do that three or four times and your step count and resistance based input will be increased. It’s so easy to do some push-ups, sit-ups or body weight squats before breakfast and before bed will mean you have taken in some sun and build your body up with little effort. If there is a roof terrace or garden, then that’s an ideal place to do 15 minutes full body circuit before the sun comes up.

There are also ways to turn excursions into a chance to exercise. Whether it is swimming in the coral reef, diving or mountain climbing, these are all physical activities that are going to exercise all of the muscle groups whilst still allowing us to enjoy our holiday and, more importantly, be cognisant of relaxation.
